Chooks, spring 08

IMG_2268.JPG
The new chookrun and gardens. It's part of the dog run as well, hence the double fence and hessian "sight-screen". The double fence also allows me a bundle of planting locations! The old water tank is the new compost heap, then to become a garden bed. Late afternoon shot.

The new chookrun/garden beds from the other angle. The inner fence is two metres; the outer is a metre, just high enough to keep the dogs away. The round fencing inside everything is a garden bed with strawberries, asparagus and potatoes (currently).

A wider shot of the new area. This is taken from inside the dog run.

Late afternoon isn't the best time to photograph chooks, but here goes ... clockwise from left is Flier, Cam (grey stripes) and ... er, "friendly Australorp". I don't so much name the chooks as identify them ...
IMG_2277.JPG
Flier, showing off her distinctive colouring and floppy comb.
IMG_2278.JPG
"The newbies". 6 Australorps, rather more "pure" than Feral and Friendly.
IMG_2281.JPG
Flier again. Yes, she's meant to look that "skinny".
IMG_2282.JPG
Cam, Friendly, Flier, and a couple of newbies in the background.
IMG_2283.JPG
Friendly and Flier hoping for more treats. Feral in the background.
IMG_2284.JPG
A slightly washed-out shot of Friendly. There are specks of white feathers under her chin.
IMG_2285.JPG
A rare shot of Feral (she has brown feathers under her chin) and Friendly getting in shot as always ...
IMG_2287.JPG
Cam. _Very_ difficult to photograph, despite being very friendly, because never stands still!
IMG_2290.JPG
Newbie and probably Friendly.
